Devlyn Optical will now offer, on a regular basis, free vision screenings and cleaning and adjustments of eyeglasses at the Mexican Consulate in San Antonio, Texas. The objective is to work in conjunction with la Ventanilla de Salud by offering this service once a month at the consulate and every time there are special health fairs in the San Antonio area.
Devlyn Optical partnered with the Consulates of Mexico, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala Honduras, Panama and Peru for the XIV edition of the Binational Health Week. The Binational Health Week (BHW) is one of the largest mobilization efforts of federal and state government agencies, community-based organizations, and volunteers in North America that seeks improve the health and well-being of underserved Hispanic immigrants living in the United States and Canada.
For the second year in a row, Devlyn Optical and the Mexican Consulate of Houston worked together during the month of August to promote the community program "Regalando una Buena Visión", in which Devlyn Optical donated a free pair of glasses to Mexican people with eye deficiencies who, because of their financial situation, don't consider eye care as their main priority. Attached are some pictures of the moment in which we handed out the certificates for a free pair of glasses to the beneficiaries.
Optometry Giving Sight and the Devlyn Foundation have signed a strategic alliance to help improve access to affordable eye care in Mexico. During the months of August and September, Devlyn Optical partnered with important health and educational institutions in California and Texas to participate in several "Back to School" health fairs. Our objective at these health fairs was to educate kids and their parents about the most common eye defects and their consequences if not detected and treated in a timely manner. We also donated school supplies to limited-resource families.
